She is an assistant professor at NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Lisbon, Portugal), where she lectures on audiovisual and scientific translation. With interests in indirect translation (particularly pivot audiovisual translation), centre-periphery relations, bibliometrics, translation history and translator training, she has published in top journals and publishers in the fields of Translation Studies and Iberian-Slavonic Studies.
She is an Assistant Professor in Translation Studies at Leiden University, and a Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Study, University of Warwick. She researches interlingual and intercultural communication of medical content aimed at audiences with different expertise, ranging from health professionals to laypeople. Her current funded research projects explore how migrant communities and their hosts use translation technologies in healthcare contexts. Fueled by her work in the translation industry, she also researches audiovisual indirect translation, focusing on ethics and sustainability.
